Star Light, Star Bright

This piece tells the story of the original children’s poem with a few extra stanzas of my own to help flesh it out. I love the balance I struck in the piece between having a fresh vocal soundscape and real melodic value that allows the musicians to use their instruments in a satisfying way.

Star light, Star bright,

First star I see tonight.

I wish I may, I wish I might,

Have the wish I wish tonight.

Added by the composer:

You glow so bright,

Yet drape yourself in night.

I wish I may, I wish I might,

Follow when you drift from sight.

At break of day,

Your light has gone away.

Your shining ray,

Bids me join your wandering way.
