Podium 2026: I Am Excited!

Two years ago, I attended Podium in Montreal and was utterly smitten by it. Being able to attend in-person really opened my eyes to what the choral music community looks like outside the bubble into which I’ve ingratiated myself.

I’ve curated a short playlist of music I’m bringing along with me – it should be embedded here:

…and further below is a list of my involvement should you want to catch up with me as I race around in an enthusiastic fury.

Vancouver Chamber Choir | Saturday, May 16th | 8:00pm at Christ Church Cathedral. – a performance of my most memorable choral conflagration; Alouette Meets Her Maker.

Cypress Publishing Reading Session | May 15th | 10:30am to 1:30pm, Cypress Publishing is hosting a reading session that will feature my setting of Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. I’ll be conducting the piece during the session which is something I don’t often have the luxury of doing. This is a lovely little piece that’s been described as, “a miniature secular mass” by a conductor colleague I know. It’s a surprisingly dark take on the well known nursery rhyme.

Canadian Experimental Choir | May 16th | 2:30pmThe Canadian Experimental Choir will be reading excerpts of my Au Clair De La Lune which was originally written for Chor Leoni. A link to their excellent premiere performance is here. This piece is a setting of a french nursery rhyme that I remember singing in elementary school. The text is actually shockingly carnal for a children’s lyric and yielded a pretty sumptuous piece. The version in this session is a transcription I’ve made for mixed voices and I’m very much looking forward to hearing it.

Meet The Creators Booth | May 17th | 12:30am to 1:30pm I will be set up at a “Meet The Creators” booth in the Podium marketplace. This would be a great time to connect and talk about the melee we’ve just been a part of. I’ll have scores and recordings on-hand for anybody who wants to partake.
