Why I stopped using social media
In brief, I found it to be a waste of time. I used to be a very active Facebook user and I would promote my concerts on it aggressively. I would have daily postings leading up to special dates and getting the content together took up a lot of my time.
At some point, and I don’t even remember why I decided to do this, I sent an email out to everybody I knew to tell them about a concert I had coming up. I was shocked at how many people showed up to that concert. Many more than what I was used to. I realized that all that effort I was spending on advertising myself was just getting lost in the “noise” of social media and I wasn’t actually reaching anybody.
So I decided to switch to an email list model and I’m much happier for it.
