Commissioned by The Laudate Singers in 2016.
A choral setting of a text written by Genevieve MacKay that somehow encounters mysticism with a child-like innocence. Great lines of great singing; my wife has told me it’s the best thing I’ve ever written.
Extended techniques from the instruments and choir help paint a picture of a place that’s somewhere between waking and dreaming. It’s one of my favourite pieces of mine – it’s very satisfying to sing and leaves a big impression on the audience.
