So it’s highly likely that almost none of you know about OperaFeHk. They’re a bizarre little chamber group that’s gotten me to write a few pieces for their concerts in the past. No biggie. But it seems their maestro has been so pleased with the results so far that he’s decided to get me to write a full evening’s worth of music for them. The catch? It has to be a comedy and it has to involve at least some of the characters of OperaFeHk.
There’s more. Mr Levine also requested a Christmas theme. I almost balked at this. Christmas is the LAST thing I would have thought I’d ever write an opera about. So what’s a pencil wielding lad to do?
